AHMP National Awards and Recognition Program

The AHMP Awards Program recognizes and honors individuals, chapters, and organizations for outstanding contribution in education, training, research, organizational development, operations, and performance that further AHMP's Strategic Plan. There are four Professional Member awards, three Chapter awards, and two AHMP "Friend" awards. Award recipients are recognized during the annual AHMP National Conference, where nominees and recipients will be publicly commended for their efforts to elevate the EHS&S industry and enhance the success of AHMP and its local chapters.

AHMP Professional Member Awards

Professional Members are individuals who practice in the fields of hazardous materials management and homeland security, or who provide goods or services to persons practicing in those fields. Click each award title for more information.

Hazardous Materials Professional of the Year Award

This award is given to an outstanding AHMP Professional Member over the age of 35 who, in the award year, has made extraordinary technical, professional, educational, training, and/or administrative contributions to the EHS&S field and to AHMP and/or its chapters while promoting the AHMP Strategic Plan. This award includes a one-year exemption from AHMP dues.

Young Hazardous Materials Professional of the Year Award

This award is given to an outstanding AHMP Professional Member under the age of 35 who, in the award year, has made extraordinary technical, professional, educational, training, and/or administrative contributions to the EHS&S field and to AHMP and/or its chapters while promoting the AHMP Strategic Plan. This award includes a one-year exemption from AHMP dues.

AHMP Distinguished Service Recognition Award

This award is given to an AHMP Professional Member who has successfully achieved at least seven of the award's criteria in the previous calendar year.

Pete Cook Founder's Award

This award is given to an AHMP Professional Member for outstanding accomplishments in support of AHMP by providing long-term service or continuous professional achievements while promoting the AHMP Strategic Plan and the integrity of EHS&S credentials. This award includes a five-year exemption from AHMP dues. View sample nominations:

AHMP Chapter Awards

AHMP Distinguished Chapter Recognition Award

This award is given to AHMP chapters that have successfully achieved at least five of the award's criteria in the previous calendar year.

Chapter Communication Program of the Year Award

This award is presented to chapters for their outgoing and incoming communications with members and the general public.

AHMP Al Arnofsky Chapter of the Year Award

This award is presented to one outstanding AHMP chapter that in the previous calendar year achieved Distinguished Chapter Recognition and made extraordinary contributions to the EHS&S field in support of AHMP's Strategic Plan through membership, cooperation with other organizations, community service, and education.

AHMP Friend Awards

Friend of the Alliance Award

This award is given by the board to an individual (member or nonmember) in recognition of significant contributions to EHS&S credentials or to AHMP's Strategic Plan at a national level. This award includes a one-year exemption from AHMP dues, if applicable.

Organizational Friend of AHMP Award

This award is given by the board to a private corporation, nonprofit organization, public or governmental agency or entity, or educational institution to recognize outstanding support of AHMP and advancement of its Strategic Plan. This award includes a one-year organization promotion on AHMP's website with a link to the organization's website.
