Why Volunteer With AHMP?

It’s easy to get involved with AHMP both locally and nationally. Here are a just few ways you can maximize the benefit of your AHMP membership:

Volunteering

At the National Level

AHMP committees are 100 percent volunteer-driven. AHMP members volunteer a few hours every month to work with their peers on important issues. Committee meetings are held via conference call to eliminate travel requirements and lengthy time commitments.

By serving on a national committee, you will:

  • Earn certificate maintenance points (CMPs).
  • Acquire new skills.
  • Make valuable contacts.
  • Help other EHS&S professionals.

To get involved, contact the chair of the committee in which you are interested. You do not have to be appointed or belong to a local chapter. View a list of national committees and committee chairs.

VolunteeringAt the Local Level

AHMP has more than 40 local U.S. chapters, a virtual chapter, and an international chapter.

Some ways to get involved include:

  • The AHMP Cyberchapter, a virtual national chapter with webinars and much more.
  • One of over 40 local U.S. chapters, providing networking opportunities and live meetings, plus access to technical/professional development programs. Find a chapter near you.

In Your Community

The CHMMUnity Program is a community service initiative that encourages HMM professionals to promote environmental, health, safety, and security awareness and proactive management of hazardous materials in their communities. CHMMunity establishes a model for AHMP chapters and individual members to work on hazardous materials-related projects in their hometowns.
