We are hopeful that many of you were able to both attend and enjoy the 2025 AHMP Summit in Louisville, KY this year. It was robust with many professionals and colleagues participating in a variety of events, seminars, and discussions (including our keynote speaker) that allowed us to reconnect with individuals within our industry. As a new Board member, I was able to meet many existing and new members who attended this year. Next year's summit in New Orleans should be even more encouraging and fun for everyone to attend. There are many events and venues in New Orleans that will capture you in many ways, including the World War II National Museum and the former US Mint Museum (New Orleans more than Bourbon Street!). I am excited to see how our committee plans, coordinates, and executes this annual event. I am sure that they would also welcome volunteers to assist in the many different activities.
New Board of Director Candidates Voting: As many of you hopefully already know and participated in by last week, we had a new slate of potential Board candidates to welcome in 2026. We had such a diverse set of individuals with a variety of experience and industry exposure, which should continue to allow our Board of Directors to diversify, grow, and most importantly, evolve into a group dedicated to the success of the AHMP organization as a whole.
Virtual Membership Orientation and Introduction: As my Director colleague, Comfort Agara, referenced last month, there will be a Virtual Membership Orientation TODAY for anyone who might have an interest. This will be a data set of information about the AHMP organization as a whole, from our mission, the Board of Directors, and various committees that need volunteers, as well as specific information about AHMP member benefits. We hope to update this information annually to provide our members with an understanding of how AHMP supports all our members in a variety of ways.
Our journey as Hazardous Materials and Environmental Health and Safety professionals continues to evolve over the course of time with different challenges, new directions, and an influx of talent and ideas. We continue our membership to stay engaged, connected, and supportive of our industry.
We hope that you and your families have a very safe and happy holiday season!
Vincent Ricevuto, PE, CHMM, CSP, REM, CIPS Board of Directors, Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals, Inc.
