March 2026

Your update on the latest news and events from AHMP.

From the Treasurer's Chair

Financial strength does not happen by accident. It is the result of disciplined oversight, transparent governance, and decisions grounded in long-term responsibility.

As Treasurer of AHMP, my responsibility is straightforward: protect the organization’s financial stability while ensuring that financial decisions support our mission and strategic direction.

This year, our financial priorities remain focused in three areas:

1. Stability
Maintain prudent reserves, manage expenditures with discipline, and safeguard the long-term viability of AHMP.

In This Issue:
  • Message from the Board of Directors
  • Affinity Program of the Month
  • 2026 EHS HazMat Summit
  • AHMP Award Program
  • Chapter Trivia Contest
  • EHMM Course
  • Chapter News
  • IHMM News

2. Transparency
Provide clear, defensible financial reporting so the Board and membership understand not only our financial position — but the rationale behind key decisions.

3. Strategic Alignment
Ensure financial planning supports initiatives that strengthen member value and responsibly expand AHMP’s professional impact.

Growth is part of that equation — but growth must be intentional.

The EHS profession continues to broaden across environmental compliance, occupational safety, process safety, risk management, and sustainability. AHMP is well positioned to engage a wider cross-section of EHS professionals while maintaining the technical depth and credibility that define our organization.

Expanding inclusion across the broader EHS sector strengthens our collective voice, enhances programming, and reinforces AHMP’s relevance in a changing risk landscape. Financial discipline enables that expansion — it does not constrain it. If AHMP has delivered value to you, I encourage you to consider inviting a respected colleague to engage with our organization and strengthen our professional community.

Strong governance, prudent investment oversight, and transparent reporting are not administrative tasks. They are foundational to mission delivery and long-term sustainability.

Call to Action

As we continue strengthening financial oversight, we are seeking two AHMP members with experience in treasury, financial management, nonprofit governance, or audit oversight to participate in the Finance Committee.

If you bring financial expertise — or a governance mindset grounded in accountability and transparency — your perspective would add meaningful value.

Serving on the Finance Committee is an opportunity to directly influence AHMP’s financial strategy and long-term sustainability.

If interested, please reach out to me directly at [email protected] to discuss participation.

Thank you for your continued engagement and commitment to AHMP’s future.

Scholarship Opportunity

Are you preparing to earn your Environmental Health & Safety credential? The EHMM Scholarship is here to help make that goal more accessible. Funded through the AHMP Scholarship Fund, this opportunity supports members pursuing EHMM coursework by covering essential program costs.

How It Works

EHMM scholarships are awarded once per calendar quarter. Applications are accepted year-round, and once each quarter, the Scholarship Evaluation Team reviews submissions and selects a recipient. Both recipients and non-recipients are notified following the review process. Please note that the Scholarship Team reserves the right to make no award in a given quarter.

What the Scholarship Covers

The award covers course tuition and an e-Desk Reference at the price set by the EHMM course provider (pricing may vary). Scholarships may be used for either virtual or in-person events. Payment is made directly from the AHMP Scholarship Fund to the organization providing the EHMM course.

Applicants Must:

  • Be a member in good standing of AHMP, an AHMP-affiliated chapter (including the Cyber Chapter), or an AHMP-affiliated section
  • Complete the scholarship application form in full

Important Details

  • Scholarship applications may be submitted at any time during the year
  • One scholarship recipient is selected per quarter
  • Recipients have one year to use the award
  • If the scholarship is not used within one year, it expires and a new application is required
  • Non-recipients are encouraged to apply again in future quarters
