OSHA: Surgical Masks Not a Substitute for Respirators for Non-COVID-19 Respiratory Hazards

OSHA does not consider surgical masks or cloth face coverings suitable substitutes for respirators in complying with substance-specific standards, such as those for asbestos and silica.
