Mr. Maheux is the Leader, Environmental & Sustainability for LENOX TOOLS, (a Newell-Rubbermaid Company), located in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Mike has been employed at Lenox for over 30 years, in various capacities from production line operations, metallurgical lag technician to various roles in EH&S. He has over 26 years’ experience working in the environmental field for private industry. Currently, his responsibilities cover facility wide air, water, and hazardous waste issues and compliance, leading the Green Facilities team, as well as working with the director of safety and the corporate Environmental / Energy sustainability and Green Facilities teams.
Mike has been a Master Level CHMM since 1995, is a Massachusetts DEP Grade 2 Industrial wastewater treatment operator, and a Massachusetts Toxics Use reduction Planner – Limited Practice for his facility. He received both his Associates degree in Conservation Law, and Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Unity College, Unity, Maine, and received his Master’s degree in Environmental Management with an Energy Management Policy Track from the University of Maryland University College in May 2009.
Mike has been an Industry representative on the East Longmeadow Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) since 1993. At the National Level of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM), he was an at-large member of the Admin Group from 2001 – 2006, reviewing and developing Academy Policies and Procedures. For NEACHMM Mike has served as a Director-at-Large (2007 – 2009; 2013); VP/President Elect (Jan. 2010 – June 2010), President (July 2010 – Dec 2011); Immediate Past President (2012) Mid-way through 2013, Mike assumed the duties as the NEACHMM Treasurer.
