On Monday, February 6, 2017, Leslie Edsall, our executive director, tendered her resignation to Management Solutions Plus (MSP). One of the reasons AHMP leadership had decided to partner with an Association Management Company was to minimize the impact that an event such as this would have on our organization. MSP had already identified a new executive director candidate to serve when needed on an interim basis. That individual has been contacted about their availability and they have indicated that they are able to start immediately.
The AHMP Executive Committee (EC) held a special conference call with MSP and the new executive director candidate last week. After reviewing this candidate's experience and credentials and speaking directly with him, the EC was very impressed with the candidate. Effective Wednesday, February 8, 2017, our new executive director is Mr. Charles "Chip" Deale, FASAE, CAE. Chip has 40 years of experience in association management, and the members of the EC are confident that he is a good fit for our organization. This will be a virtually seamless transition. Please join us in welcoming Chip Deale on board as our new Executive Director.
Charles (Chip) Deale is a career association executive with four decades of senior-level nonprofit experience.
He most recently held the position of vice president of membership and chapter relations at Financial Executives International (FEI), representing individuals holding policy-making positions in corporate financial management. Before joining the FEI staff, Chip was executive director at the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA), the organization serving visual journalists in all news media. For over 13 years, he also was the head of society relations at CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals.
Prior to CFA Institute, Chip spent the first two decades of his career in the Washington, D.C. area in various executive staff capacities for the national industry associations representing manufacturers of concrete masonry products, owner-operators of truck stops and travel plazas, independent chain retailers of petroleum products, wholesale-distributors of wine and distilled spirits, and owners of temporary staffing companies.
