2016 Pete Cook Award Winner

During the Alliance for Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP) 29th Annual Conference, the 2016 Pete Cook Award winner was announced at the AHMP Awards Breakfast on August 30th. Bruce Donato, a longtime volunteer, member, and consultant for AHMP, received the award for his excellence and dedicated service to the Alliance.

Mr. Donato became a volunteer in 2006 when he joined the National Capital Chapter. In 2007, he was an active participant in the AHMP Annual Conference and participated in the emergency response scenario (ERS) as a volunteer victim. During the conference, Mr. Donato also became a member of the Professional Development Committee and was a primary presenter for the Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) course.

In 2008, Mr. Donato earned his first AHMP award as a Friend of the Academy for his integral support of the 2007 conference, the National Capital Chapter, and the EHMM course. As Mr. Donato became more involved with the chapter, he served as both secretary and treasurer in 2008 while developing the chapter’s website.
