|AHMP 2018 Board Slate Nominees|
Upon review of the applications received for open positions on the AHMP Board of Directors, the Leadership Committee recommends the following slate of nominees for Vice President-President Elect, Secretary, and two At-Large Director positions for terms commencing in 2018.
Mr. Johnson is a Senior Environmental Project Manager and Public Involvement Specialist with over 25 years of experience with projects that adhere to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). He routinely prepares categorical exclusions and environmental assessments for infrastructure, transportation, and utilities projects. Mr. Johnson specializes in socioeconomic analysis including environmental justice, demographics, employment trends, income levels, visual resources, and economic indicators. He is also experienced in collecting baseline data and evaluating environmental impacts on communities, land use, hazardous materials, and cumulative impacts. He also assesses properties for impacts from hazardous materials and documents the findings in a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment or Initial Site Assessment documents. Mr. Johnson has conducted a variety of public involvement and community participation activities. He has prepared public involvement plans, which described strategies and methods to achieve public involvement. He organizes public meeting and stakeholder events, identifies community participants, and develops stakeholder lists. Mr. Johnson has organized and facilitated work with stakeholder groups. Often stakeholder groups are organized around similar interests such as neighborhoods, economic development, or local government. Mr. Johnson prepares materials for public involvement including PowerPoint presentations, handouts, comment forms, and meeting notices. He is also fluent in Spanish and can translate handouts and present meetings in Spanish.
Mark Smith is a proponent of networking and has repeatedly demonstrated this attribute in East Tennessee. He serves as the hub of information among the three EHS professional groups in sharing information related to employment and professional development. Mark has arranged joint professional development programs among several professional societies.
Ms. Steed is currently the PM for the Air National Guard (ANG) Environmental and Safety Visit (ESV) Compliance Program Evaluations. On this contract, she was Deputy PM for eight years, Environmental Lead for seven years, and QA/QC Manager for six years. As PM, Ms. Steed is responsible for project coordination, team scheduling, financial reviews, and client interactions. With 15 years of technical experience performing multi-media and media-focused environmental compliance assessments, she has supported the ANG, Air Force (AF), Army National Guard (ARNG), U.S. Marine Corps, National Park Service (NPS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and numerous commercial clients. She has prepared Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA) reports, hazardous waste management plans, reviewed Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), conducted waste inventories, developed and performed hazardous waste and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) training, reviewed air compliance permits, and conducted compliance training. She has conducted more than 350 environmental compliance audits in all 50 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. She has been responsible for leading onsite assessments, conducting in/out briefs with facility personnel, and ensuring quality of findings. She is skilled in the recognition of environmental compliance findings, root causes, and identifying corrective actions. Additionally, in January 2009, Ms. Steed became involved in line management and supervising personnel.
As a California native, Mr. Atkins' life's work as a professional has been centered on protecting the environment by helping companies comply with an ever-increasing barrage of regulations; plus, site mitigation allows him to "clean up the world a little bit at a time." He recognizes the value of giving back by bringing technical expertise and the attitude of a servant to volunteer services.

For a 30-day period ending on July 27, 2017, additional nominations are being accepted from AHMP members for the two officer positions (Vice President-President Elect and Secretary) and the two At-Large Director roles. Self-nominations are acceptable. Any member interested in submitting a self-nomination during this 30-day period, must complete forms available on the AHMP website and submit all forms to the Leadership Committee’s Chair, Joe Jenkins.
